This past July 4th, our whole family wasn’t feeling very well. We were getting ready to have our meal, and I realized we hadn’t decorated – at ALL! So I asked if anyone had a flag. We had no vases where it could fit. One child got a lump of red clay, and I found a blue cup. We were admiring our little centerpiece when one child ran off and came back with army men. Everyone yelled, “IWO JIMA! Cool!”
Naturally, my homeschooled children then started a lively discussion about the placement of the army men not being accurate. Some had to get encyclopedias and check out the real picture, while others reenacted the poses… 
I love it when homeschooling just happens!
